At the Chocolate Bar

With Valentine's Day near, chocolate has been on my mind. I even gave my students an assignment this week to design some packaging for a chocolate start-up. While gathering examples, I ran across this work of Sophie Blackwell which she illustrated for a new Brooklyn chocolatier, Cacao Prieto. Their NY factory just had a soft opening for the public in late November. They produce "bean-to-bar organic chocolates" made fresh from the finest cacao from their family farm in the Dominican Republic. Their chocolate bars are hand crafted with 72% dark chocolate in 5 varieties of fruit and nut combinations. They are handsomely packaged with Sophie Blackwells' limited edition illustrations of the Prieto family history. I'll take one of each please. They are dreamy!

  1. Hi this is Daniel Prieto. I'm glad you like our chocolate packaging.

I would love to see what your students come up with. We could perhaps sponsor some chocolate for inspiration and would even considering purchasing student artwork which could work for us.
