Fastest Time to Type the Alphabet

Nick Watson (UK) was the fastest person to type the entire alphabet on a qwerty keyboard in exactly seven seconds on June 9th, 2006. Illustrator Maria Forde commemorated the event with this artwork. See more of her world record works which are for sale here.

Postscript: Guinness World Records reported on November 28th, 2010, that T.C. Girivasan has achieved an even faster time of 4.71 seconds to type the alphabet at Pondicherry Beach, India. And the fastest time to type the alphabet with one hand on an iPad belongs to 20 year-old Charlie Joseph McDonnell who performed this in 6.31 seconds on June 27th, 2010 surrounded by dozens of teenage girls on the set of FirstNews in London. You can watch the video of it here.

According to the people at Guinness World Records, there is no record yet for reciting the alphabet. Kids, are you listening? And did you know that the longest english word that can be typed only using the top row of a qwerty keyboard is typewriter
